Mrs. Peggy McClellan

Peggy McClellan, affectionately known as Ms. Peggy by hundreds of U of A Army ROTC cadets, served the Razorback Brigade for 35 years before her retirement in 2020.Her prior service military experience and exceptional organizational skills made her an irreplaceable asset to the program.

Ms. Peggy was born in Highland Park, Illinois, and began her civil service career at the 9th Naval District HQ as a telecommunications operator and encryptionist. She married a Navy man and traveled the world by his side.

Back in the U.S., Peggy had a variety of workplaces and learning opportunities: dry cleaners, Civil Service at Great Lakes, Corporate Headquarters of the Kitchens of Sara Lee, and Peoples’ Bank in Mountain Home, AR – where she managed the one-person word processing department & relief switchboard operator. Missing the military lifestyle, she enlisted in the US Navy Reserves as a radioman and later transferred to the US Army Reserve, 362nd PSYOP Company.


Peggy joined the U of A Army ROTC department in the Fall of 1985 in the Secretary 1 position and was later offered the Admin Tech GS position from which she retired. As the Admin Tech, she witnessed advances in automation, changes in cadre and leadership styles, the ever-revolving world of cadets, and supported summer training camps at Fort Lewis and Fort Knox in various capacities. Peggy has four children and six grandchildren and enjoys painting, photography, refinishing furniture, and the outdoors in her retirement.
